THE FARMHOUSE INN
Hidden away in a quiet corner of Sonoma County, The Farmhouse Inn is a surprisingly charming & cozy oasis to spend a day or two in Northern California's lauded wine country. Situated about 15 mins from both Healdsburg and Santa Rosa, The Farmhouse is ideally located, yet feels as if it's in a world of its own, surrounded by rolling hills covered with vineyards and dotted with wineries and aged barns.
The hotel takes rustic chic to another level, providing both the luxury one would expect from a place of this caliber but also the unpretentiousness necessary to make most people feel comfortable. The Farmhouse experience begins at check-in where you are greeted by a smiling staff member. After dealing with the basics, they will show you the 24 hr complimentary tea & coffee bar as well as the bath bar where you can cut chunks of soap and collect some bath salts or body scrubs to take back to your room. On to the room. Winding through the cluster of pastel farmhouses on the property, you pass the pool and hot tub, catch a sneak peak of the spa area, and hear the fire pits crackling.
Open the door to your room, and you will come face to face with a spacious room with vaulted ceilings, white washed wooden walls, plush furnishings, a marble bathroom with heated floors, a soaking tub, and steam shower (yay), and my personal favorite, a dual sided fireplace facing both towards the interior of the room as well as towards the large private patio. The room as a whole imbues comfort and invites you to stay awhile.
Little details like locally made snacks, an evening turn down service with freshly baked goods, and the option to make smores at the firepits at any time of the day are all part of the boutique Farmhouse experience.
I was lucky enough to visit the Farmhouse for my company's holiday party and was thus also able to enjoy the on-site one Michelin starred restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. The four-course meal plus wine pairings was seasonal and delicious.
I would happily return to The Farmhouse again for another dose of luxury and relaxation.
Additional Tips:
- Book a Deluxe King room, they are lovely!
- Schedule a spa service, one woman at check-in told me it was the best service of her life.
- Ask the front desk for their list of winery partners. If you name drop that you're staying at The Farmhouse at any of these wineries you can taste for free.
- Make sure to request the evening turn down service for additional treats.
