PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC

A Mini Guide to Prague

Often referred to as The City of 100 Spires, Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and arguably one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with stunning and colorful architecture , distinctive charm, the winding Vltava River running through, and impressive monuments scattered about. The Historic Center has received UNESCO distinctions, but every neighborhood throughout Prague offers something unique to visitors and locals alike.

GETTING AROUND

Prague has one of the most efficient and easy to use public transportation systems in Europe offering three metro lines, trams, and buses. The Prague system is an "open" system, so you simply hop on and off with a pre-purchased pass or ticket. For those visiting the city for a few days I recommend purchasing the 3 day pass (available at any of the news stands in the metro stations and kiosks around tram stops for approx $11) to save time and not worry about coins. Single day and monthly passes are also available in addition to the standard 90 min passes from the ticket machines.

UBER is available and reliable in Prague.

Where to Stay

Old Town - Hotel Josef

Clean modern design in a prime location in Prague's Old Town. Friendly staff, complimentary breakfast, and reasonable rates make this a great place to stay for a short visit to Prague.

Vinohrady - Airbnb

For longer stays in Prague, I definitely recommend an Airbnb for more space, the flexibility to cook, and a more local approach to the city. Numerous apartments can be found throughout the city, but the Vinohrady neighborhood is quiet, full of restaurants, has several farmer's markets, and is easily accessible to all the major sites in the city.
